Games... Games... Games

The action is hot and so is the weather here in OKC as we continue to watch some of the best teams in the world play the wonderful game of SOFTBALL!

What a game between China & Japan.. the teams battled for 10 inning’s with Japan taking it at the end.

Cool side note … After Team Japan shook hands with Team China their entire team lined up in the middle of the field and bowed … China and Japan are CLASS ACTS! I love seeing the honor both of these countries have for the fans, for softball and for each other.

The fans love the game and to keep it upbeat during the half innings the staffs here in Oklahoma are getting the fans to participate on the field in contest such as Who has the best poster,  Best dressed fan as well as other contest.  If you come out be sure decorate yourself and or a poster… you may be chosen as a contestant.

The Fun Begins

Assisting the USA Staff in picking up the teams from the Oklahoma City airport and driving the players around to their appearance gives me the opportunity to mingle with the players..

My first job was to meet team China at the airport on Monday.  They arrived at 11:56 pm and we didn’t leave the airport until 1:20 am.  It is amazing to see what the teams must travel and keep up with.  Team China was very organized in checking to see that all of their belongings arrived with them in Oklahoma.

Some of the USA players stopped by the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium for interviews… as we were going back to the hotel, Stacey Nuveman called her husband to see if he had arrived from California.  He had and was getting a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant.  I dropped her off so she could spend a couple of minutes with him prior to a 2pm team meeting.  I was amazed to learn she hadn’t seen her husband in about a month due to her travels with the National Team as well as other engagements.  In fact she hasn’t been home since the end of April.

Quick fact from Stacey (NOOOVEE) as her team mates call her .. Her cousin, Kevin Gregory played for the 1991 State Champion Killeen Kangroos football team.  I’m from Killeen, Texas and a Roo alumni.      Wow small world!

Traveling is nuts for Team USA … While driving  Vicky Galindo to her Wal-Mart appearance she mentioned they will get to go home for 6 days after the world cup, prior to traveling to Houston for an exhibition game.

Well it is a hot one here in Oklahoma City… hope you can come out and enjoy watching the best players in the world play softball or if can’t make it be sure to check out the action on ESPN!

If your watching ESPN or here in person you might even see Jamie Southern and Amanda Freed doing the "robot" to "clear" their head during the game!!!  have a great time girls!
