What a Game!

Columbus Northern LL, Columbus, Georgia from the Southeast Region and Kawaguchi LL, Kawaguchi City, Japan from the Asia Region both played an excellent game.   Each team represented their country and league with class.   Below are some photos from the Championship Game (click on photo):

What You Miss by Not Going to LL Baseball World Series

Talking with all the people that go each year; it’s like a class reunion.
Talking with players from various parts of the world.
Sliding down the hill; what fun it is.
Watching the games from the stadium; especially the Championship.
Listening to people critique the umpires.
The free pins from the various sponsors of Little League; thanks.
People trading Little League pins.
The Ice Cream Guys; they were absent this year.
The funnel cake; the best anywhere.
The excitement of the event.
Everyone should go to the Little League Baseball World Series at least once!

Should Microphones be Turned Off in Dugouts?

Why broadcast anything said in the dugout?  Isn’t it enough to have the microphones on when the umpires, manager and coaches are on the field of play?  What was said in the dugout by the player in yesterday’s game was inappropriate and should not be condoned.  Do the players need a place where they only answer to their teammates, coaches and their manager?  Should microphones be turned off while in the dugout? Should the dugout be the players’ sanctuary?

What do you think?

Tobacco Free at the Little League World Series

The Little League Baseball World Series will be a “Tobacco-Free Event”.  In previous years, the use of tobacco products was only prohibited in the stadiums. It will now be “Tobacco-Free” everywhere on the 66 acre Little League Complex.

People will be permitted to carry tobacco products with them.  The Security personnel will remind everyone of the new Tobacco-Free Policy as they enter the complex.

What a great policy!

Ahwatukee American LL, Arizona will be going to the World Series

Arizona’s Ahwatukee American LL defeated Northern California’s River Park LL for the West Region Champion.  After three complete innings the score was 1-0 for River Park LL, Northern California. Ahwatukee American LL, Arizona, scored 3 runs in the forth inning and at the end of the fourth inning the game was tied 3 to 3.  Ahwatukee American LL, Arizona scored 7 more runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning.  Shaun Chase hit a home run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings for his last three times at bat.

Congratulations to both teams for being in the finals for the West Region Championship.

Arizona have fun at the World Series.

West Region: Nevada Knocked Out Southern California

Lone Mountain Little League, Nevada just determined the fate of Southern California by eliminating the team with a score of 4-2.  Logan DeRosier pitched an awesome game; he struck out 14 of the 23 batters.  Tyler LeBaron hit a home run that went over the Snow Cone roof that went approximately 270 feet and Gabe Chavira hit a home run off the roof of the Pin Trading area that was approximately 240 feet.

Congratulations to all the teams that made it to the West Region Tournament.  The scheduled for the first Semi Final Game is Ahwatukee American LL, Arizona vs Waipio LL, Hawaii and the second Semi Final Game is River Park LL, Northern California vs Lone Mountain LL, Nevada.  The Championship Game will be on Saturday at 6:00PM (Pacific) on ESPN 2.

River Park LL Advances to West Region Tournament and Keeps on Winning

The team from River Park Little League in CA District 10, Fresno won the “Northern California LL Division II Tournament” with a homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning.  This is the first time a team from CA District 10 has won Northern California Division II Tournament.

River Park LL has won their first two games at West Region Tournament.   The next game for River Park is on Tuesday at 11:45AM against Hawaii.  They are the only team in the West Region Tournament with 2 and 0.  In the Northwest Region Tournament, Murrayhill Little League from Oregon is the only team with 2 and 0.

River Park LL now represents all of Northern California. Good luck and have fun.

Trading Little League Pins at the World Series

I have been to the Little League World Series 14 times, Senior League World Series 2 times, and Big League World Series once.  Traded Little League pins at all of them, which is a great way to get to know people.  I have met people from all over the world and have formed friendships that have lasted to this day.  The Senior League World Series was then in Kissimmee, Florida and the Big League World Series was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Little League made its first official pin in 1983.  It was a hot air balloon.  Little League International continues to make pins to be sold in their souvenir stands at the complex.  There are also pins from the sponsors of Little League and they are given away at the Little League World Series.

Most people trade one for one.  There are a few pins that demand more than one pin.  There is a Pin Trading Tent at Little League World Series complex.  You will be able to trade with players from various parts of United States and the world.  Also at the Pin Trading Tent will be people that come to the World Series to watch games and trade pins.

There are Pin Trading Rooms at the Genetti Hotel and Radisson Hotel.  There are people there most of the day trading Little League pins and talking.   Some people will eat before the evening game and go directly to the pin trading rooms.  The pin trading rooms are the places to go after the games.

For many years all I did was trade Little League pins, except for the time my husband did the Big League Baseball World Series in 1990, Little League Baseball World Series in 1994, and my son did the Senior League Baseball World Series in 2000.  Then the last three years that I went, I watched as many games as possible.  They are great fun.

Anyone involved in Little League should go to the Little League World Series at least once in their life.

Have fun watching games and trading!
