Little League World Series 2007: LOCAL ETEAMZ TEAM CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD

8/16 - Wow is about all I can say. If you have been following the eteamz Mattawan Little League softball team, you know that they defeated the East Region 6-2 (box score) to become the 2006 Little League Softball World Champions! 8/14 - 6:00 PM EST - An update! Mattawan Little League (Central Division) defeated the West team by a score of 1-0 this afternoon. They are now 4-0 in the final round of pool play and still have not allowed their opponents to score a run. They will play again tomorrow, 8/15 at 7:00 PM PDT with coverage by ESPN2. Make sure you stop by Mattawan's eteamz website and sign their guestbook!

Mattawan Little League is only about twenty minutes from my home in Kalamazoo, MI so it's great to see one of our local eteamz teams doing so well. Actually, they are doing very well indeed. They have a record of 3-0 going into today with only one game remaining in regular pool play. To top it all off, no runs have been scored against as they have outscored their opponents, 18-0.

Softball has been a big success for Mattawan Little League. Most of the girls have played together before. As 9-10-year-olds they won state championships in 2003 and 2004. Last year they ended up second at state in 11-12 Major Division and now they want more - they want the World Series Championship flag to bring home to Mattawan and Michigan.

It was a true pleasure meeting ALL of you. As has been said and echoed many times before me, I am sad that it's over and everyone had to go home.

You have created, for me, a lifetime of memories in your remarkable run at the Little League Softball World Series, and emerging as champions while giving up only two runs in the entire series.
