New Log in Process - General Help & Known Issues

Hello everyone,

I've tried to include tips on logging in with our new log in process as well as known issues.   I will update it as I receive the latest information.

There are no outstanding issues.      Thanks for your patience while we got these corrected.

Recent Fixes:

  • Members using a Domain Name (YourSiteName.com) can now log in from their domain name.  If you still see the issue, please delete your temporary internet files.  Instructions can be found at:

    http://eteamz.active.com/support/faq/admin.cfm#updates

  • We made some changes and you should notice a significant improvement with the site speed.  We're continuing to monitor the site
  • View Profile link was removed (displayed under your nickname on the boards)
  • Collect Fees folder - now functional
  • Being logged out of the data base (specifically on the message boards) when you don't click "log out" or end your session - Fixed
  • Tournament Builder Pro - Post & Play is working
  • "Reply" link in message center is working
  • The ability to log in to Sub-Sites has been restored
  • At approximately 1:30pm EST on 7/17 the log in process went down.  It was back up within the hour.
  • eteamz Albumz showing a temporarily unavailable message (generally intermittent)

Tips on the new Log in Process

How do I log in?

  • If you've logged in using your username and password, then you're all set and have been upgraded to the new log in process.   You will now log in with your Email Address from here on out in the Username/Email field.  *Note - the username/email and password are case sensitive.

How do I log in to my Site Admin?

  • The same way as you always have.   Go directly to your Web site and click the red "Admin" link on the menu.   Or, go to eteamz.com and click the "eteamz login" link in the nav bar.  Enter your log in credentials and select the admin link next to the site you'd like to log in to.  *Note - the username/email and password are case sensitive.

Why don't I see the sites that I'm an admin of?

  • You likely have two or more accounts and you're logged in with your non-admin account.   Log in with the username you always used to access that site.

Using a Bookmark to access the site.

  • You can bookmark the main eteamz home page or your team/league home page, but don't bookmark the actual login link.

Where are my Message Center messages?

  • On our Re-launch FAQ page, we have listed that all of your messages would be removed when this went live.  We'll be using a new messaging system that you can use to communicate with each other (your current Message Center is used to contact support only) that will be going live in the coming weeks.

Why am I not being remembered when I go back to the site?

  • The cookies on your browser will no longer remember you when you visit the site.   We changed this for several reasons, but the main reason was for security (espcially when used in a public venue).   You will be logged out when you click the "log out" button or when you close your browser.

Why am I being logged out after a certain amount of time?

  • If you are idle for 20 40 minutes (changed from 20 to 40), you will be logged out and have to log back in.  Make note of this especially when you're in Admin making site updates to items such as news articles.
Who is Active?
  • Active is our parent company.  You may not have noticed before as we had completely separate sites.  Active and eteamz have combined logins to give you access to all eteamz and Active materials with a single username and password.

If you have any questions, please contact us via your Message Center, the Message Boards or via email.

Release timing

I know there have been a bunch of questions regarding the timing of our release last night so I thought I would briefly address it.

For those of you that have been around eteamz for some time, you know that we don't really have a 'slow' period. There is always some sport or season happening that keeps our usage and traffic humming along. When planning this specific release we looked at our historical data and attempted to select a time period that gave us the best shot at minimal disruption. We know that if eteamz isn't working, then you're not working. A lot of our people here have sacrificed their own free time to ensure that we keep working for you.

We have been working on this release for some time and had completed a significant amount of testing. Obviously there were issues that we didn't anticipate correctly and we will work hard to eliminate those issues.

We will keep posting here and on the boards with more information when we have it.

Thanks for your continued patience and support.

Gregg

New Login Coming!

At long last, we are getting ready to launch our new login tools for eteamz, and for other sites in our network. We've mentioned this a couple of different times, but here's the deal:

Early Monday morning June 25, between midnight and 6am EDT, eteamz will be undergoing some maintenance to get these new tools in place and ready to go. During this time, you will probably find a message on the home page that the site is unavailable. It may be intermittent, as we don't expect to be offline the entire six hours. We know you all like to get into your sites and the message boards early on Monday, so we expect to be ready for you.

What is going to be new? Logging in to eteamz will be a lot easier! The first time you log in, starting Monday morning, you will be presented with a profile update page, which will give you a chance to review your personal account information and remind you that you will now use the email address associated with your account as the username when you log in to eteamz, and any one of the other sites within the Active Network.

What else... Once you log into eteamz, you will stay logged in until you close your browser. This protects you from any malicious attacks in the event you use eteamz in a public venue. It also allows you to move seamlessly in and out of the admin interface without having to log in each time. One other thing, for those of you that manage multiple eteamz sites, the "Admin" link on your site will take you straight to the admin for that particular site, rather than asking you to choose again.

What will NOT be changing? Most everything else, really. Your sites will be displayed as they always have. The admin interface will work the same. Most of your normal routine on eteamz is unchanged, except for the login.

Now, a little later next week, we will be re-launching the Active.com site, which will be the new home of many of the parts of eteamz not related to your team's site. Things like the sport home pages and the message boards all have new homes, and lots of great new functionality on Active.com. But we'll get into that more next week. First things first. We'll get everyone on this new login and then worry about the new Active.com.

I'm sure some of you will have questions about the new login. If you do, please feel free to send a message to customer support through the eteamz message center.

New Logo! Seriously!

Hi Everyone,

As you may have noticed, there are about a dozen different versions of the eteamz logo floating around different areas of the corporate site as well as on user generated sites.

Our new lead designer, Damon, has been taking a whack at re-designing and tweaking the eteamz logo so that we can move forward with a unified look and feel.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take a peek at these two variations of the logo-set and let us know what you think:

Version 1 – Univers Condensed Bold

Version 2 – Univers Condensed

The difference between these two iterations is the thickness of the "teamz" part of the logo.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which version of the logo do you like best?

Why do you like that version more than the other?

What do you like best about the new logo design?

What do you like least about the new logo design?

What changes would you make?

Any and all comments are welcome!  You can post comments to the blog or email me at eric.damassa@active.com.

Thanks!

-Eric

Important account changes

I'd like to notify you about some important changes that will be taking place in the coming weeks. You've likely seen the Active.com Relaunch banners throughout eteamz. You can read more about the launch at http://eteamz.active.com/company/launch/index.cfm. Most of the changes will be taking place over the next month. Next week, three important changes will take place.

Logging In
Our single sign on that we notified you about several months ago will go live soon. Our tentative date for release is the week of June 18th. The first time you log in after our new login pages go live, you will be presented with a screen to enter your username and password. When you do this, the email address you used to create your account will be displayed on the site. From here on out, you will use your email address and password to login. Don't worry, your email address will not be published. You may be wondering why we did this. Active (our parent company) and eteamz have combined logins to give you access to all eteamz and Active materials with a single username and password. Click Here to view a sneak peek.

Logging in to your Site Admin (Admins of eteamz Web sites only)
When you log in, you will be taken to a page which includes a list of the sites you are associated to. Here, you can click the Site Name to visit the site's home page or the "Admin" link to login to that site's Admin. It will work exactly as it does today, the display is just a bit different. Click Here to view a sneak peek.

Message Center
You can currently use the Message Center to contact other eteamz members and eteamz support. With the Relaunch comes a new and improved messaging system that will be released in the coming weeks. When the single sign on goes live (the week of June 18th), your email address will display instead of your username. For privacy purposes, we obviously do not want members to be able to view your email address. For this reason, the message center will be used to contact eteamz support only. You will be notified when the new messaging system is released.

If you have further questions, please contact support directly. Thank you.

Brief eteamz downtime next week

Some exciting changes are coming to eteamz this month, and they've been a long time coming, I know. We've put months of work into these changes, but that will be a story for another time.

The first change will be mostly unnoticed, as it's entirely behind-the-scenes. This will be a much-needed upgrade to our database (both the hardware and the software). The goal here is, of course, improved performance. More power driving the site means we should be able to handle more traffic and handle it better.

As a result of messing with the database, though, we will have to take the site offline for a short time. We're planning on a four-hour window from 12am to 4am EDT, June 13, 2007. Studies show that most people aren't using eteamz at that time of night, so you probably won't even notice. So we apologize that we have to shut off eteamz for a little while, but it is our expectation that you will notice an improvement in performance.

Coming later this month, we have a couple more changes, which will be much more noticeable. There will be changes to the way you log in - we think much more straightforward than today, and your login will work for other Active Network sites. Then the new Active.com will be launched with a whole new set of community features like message boards and announcements, site and event search, video and all kinds of great content. More details will be coming soon about this as it gets closer, so stay tuned.
